Rupununi Tropical Sparse Savanna is located at the junction of the Rupununi River and Brazil. It is a natural tropical and subtropical grassland, sparse grassland, and tropical flora and fauna ecological area. The animals running on the grassland, the birds flying in the sky, and the swaying plants in the wind form a magnificent tropical grassland scenery, with many animals living on the grassland, among which the jaguar and harpy eagle are the long-term residents, making it their home.
Although the Rupununi Tropical Sparse Savanna is located in a dry tropical region, the rainy season from May to August provides abundant water sources for the thirsty animals due to frequent flooding. In the Rupununi Tropical Sparse Savanna, you can also see small villages of indigenous people and large ranches built by cowboys. Some shepherds are descendants of 19th-century Scottish people who settled here, living a traditional life and becoming part of the Rupununi Tropical Sparse Savanna, contributing to the protection of the grassland.
