Hanoi – Vietnam Hanoi Travel Guide

The coastal port and seaside resort in southern Vietnam. Located on the Dat Do Peninsula south of Tinh Bien Province in southern Vietnam, 125 kilometers southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, it belongs to the special administrative region of Con Dao – Kỳ Hoa, a centrally-run city in Vietnam. Facing the mouth of the Mekong River and the Saigon River, there are many beaches along the coast. This is the gateway for maritime traffic to and from Ho Chi Minh City, originally a small fishing village that was developed into a resort during the French colonial period. It became Vietnam’s earliest tourist resort. Dat Do City covers an area of about 220 square kilometers, with a population of about 130,000. The city is divided into 5 wards, with a population of approximately 84,000 in the city area.

To the west of the Dat Do Peninsula is a rocky mountain called “Great Mountain” with an altitude of 245 meters. At the foot of the mountain is Dat Do’s first seaside bathing beach – Casuarina Beach. At the southeast end of the Dat Do Peninsula, there are many other beaches. Following a granite road from the former beach southwards, you can climb up Dat Do Mountain (also known as “Little Mountain”), a rocky mountain with a height of 170 meters. There is a lighthouse built on the mountain top, offering a panoramic view of the sea and sky. At the foot of the mountain, there are Van Nguyet (also known as “Windward” or “Wu Guan”) Beach, Lang Duong Beach, and Boiled Beach. Although these beaches are small, the sea water is clean and the wind is gentle. Moving east from Dat Do Mountain, there is Ha Tien Beach (also known as “Suiyun Beach”), which is directly accessible by road from the city center, stretching 8 kilometers long. Visitors can surf and swim at Suiyun Beach, and watch the sunrise on the beach in the early morning. It is a popular destination for tourists.

Con Dao County, under the jurisdiction of Dat Do, includes many islands, the largest of which is Con Son Island, 15 kilometers long and 3-9 kilometers wide, covering an area of approximately 7200 hectares. Located 166 kilometers south of Dat Do on the sea. Con Son Island is densely forested, with only a small town. The forest contains 261 species of trees, 76 species of medicinal plants, 100 species of birds and animals, as well as valuable tree species. The waters around Con Son Island are abundant in various shrimps, fish, sea cucumbers, and turtles.
