Maiquetía Air Museum – Venezuela Maiquetía Air Museum Travel Guide

The Aeronautics Museum of Maracay is the only aviation-themed museum in Venezuela and one of the largest museums in Latin America. It is located in the famous city of Maracay in the northern region of Venezuela, adjacent to the Venezuelan Air Force Officers School. The museum was established on December 10, 1963, and officially opened to the public in the same year.

The Aeronautics Museum of Maracay boasts the largest collection of aircraft, engines, weapons, related documents, photographs, maps, paintings, memorabilia, and other historical artifacts in Venezuela, making it one of the largest museums in the country. The museum houses two of the largest air force bases in the country, showcasing over forty aircraft including a helicopter, four helicopters that served from the 1920s to the 1950s, and Venezuela’s first aircraft – the French-made G.3 biplane. These aircraft, used at different times in Venezuela’s history, vividly illustrate the development of Venezuela’s aviation industry to visitors.

In 1976, the Aeronautics Museum of Maracay expanded to establish the Hall of Fame, collecting military memorabilia from across Venezuela since its independence. Today, the museum is rapidly developing into a nationally recognized military-themed museum that combines technology education and tourism.
